The Gardiner Dairy Foundation is calling for dairy farmers to apply for Farm Business Management Program scholarships.
Now in its third year, the FBMP is a collaboration between the foundation and the Victorian Regional Development Program to provide successful applicants with skills to manage their farms effectively.
Ten scholarships will be offered with placement in one of three courses: Australian Rural Leadership Program, Institute of Business Owners Australian Owner Manager Program or Rabobank Executive Development Program.
The foundation will contribute $1million over three years to the FBMP as part of its investment into people development to ensure a vibrant dairy future.
Foundation chief executive Mary Harney said the program would greatly assist participants within the dairy industry and provide flow-on benefits to the wider agriculture sector.
‘‘Farmers faced one of the most challenging dairying seasons in 2016 and the 2017 FBMP scholarships have come at a particularly helpful time,’’ Ms Harney said.
‘‘The program will give more Victorian farmers the skills to respond to dairy-related challenges and opportunities confidently, whilst giving back to the industry by sharing the learnings they have gained.’’
■Applications for the 2017 scholarships are now open and will close on Friday, March 10, with interviews being held in Melbourne from March 28 to March 30.
