A multi-vendor sale, highlighted by the complete dispersal of Peter Keep and Claire Evenden’s Katandra dairy herd, was held at Shepparton Regional Saleyards on Thursday.

The sale, conducted by agents Mulcahy Nelson and Flanagan Marketing Services, resulted in 138 cattle being sold for the four vendors, at an average price of $1790, with prices topping at $2600.

Agent Lawrie Flanagan was happy with the sale.

‘‘It was a good sale throughout. Autumn calving (cattle) is easier to sell than spring calving,’’ Mr Flanagan said.

Mr Keep and Ms Evenden sold 86 cattle for a gross price of $144225 and Mr Keep described the sale as ‘‘tough’’.

‘‘I don’t think there’s a lot of money around and people are waiting for the opening milk price,’’ he said.

Mr Keep said that despite him knowing the quality of the cows, it didn’t relate in the price.

‘‘Everyone expects more. The market will dictate the price,’’ he said.
