Winery set to go to auction

A slice of history will go under the hammer when Auldstone Cellars near Taminick is sold next week.

The property has been operating since the 1880s and has become a much-loved establishment in the area.

Ruralco Property selling agent Malcolm Gunn said it had been a ‘‘labour of love’’ for the current owners.

‘‘Auldstone Cellars has been a labour of love for the Reids who bought the property in a rundown condition in October 1987 and set about its recovery,’’ he said.

‘‘It has provided three people with a good living and we haven’t pushed the vineyard, or the hand-crafted premium wines produced on the property or plumbed the full commercial potential.’’

■The auction will be held on Friday, April 21 at 2pm on site, with a clearing sale starting at 9am the following day.
