  • CWA produces 50000 scones

The Country Women’s Association of NSW has sold its 50000th scone during its 70th year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Proving its recipe is the cream of the crop, the Country Women’s Association of NSW has sold its 50000th scone during its 70th year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The group surpassed its previous scone record by more than 900 floury treats last Tuesday, with plans to sell hundreds more — at $8.50 for two scones, jam and cream, and tea — by show’s end on Wednesday.

NSW CWA chief executive Danica Leys said about 450 volunteers helped to dish out the Devonshire tea using a secret recipe, 2.5tonnes of flour and 35000 individual portions of strawberry jam.
