The Strong Wool Breeders Association’s 30th Strong Wool Sheep and Wool Fair attracted breeders from southern NSW and central and north-east Victoria to Benalla on May 7.

There were excellent entries from Cheviot, English Leicester, Lincoln, Border Leicester, Drysdale and Perendale breeds, along with more than 40 fleeces and good craft entries and displays.

The Supreme Champion Sheep was won by Barry Bennett of Barooga with a Border Leicester, and the Interbreed Champion Ram was won by John and Alice Beattie from the Esdale Lincoln Stud at Yarrawonga.

The photography exhibition had a variety of entries, with one of the champion photographs of sheep in an early morning fog rural setting creating great interest. Winner of the competition was Susan Campbell of Benalla.

The craft championships were won by Beverley Green and Kathy Wheeler.
