  • Another report for basin plan

A new report will explore the socio-economic effects of planned efficiency measures in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

Federal agriculture minister Barnaby Joyce has announced the terms of reference for the latest independent study into the Murray-Darling Basin Plan's efficiency measures, with the report's findings to be released in December.

The report seeks to ensure that any additional water recovery as part of the efficiency measures, also referred to as the 450 GL of upwater, meets the requirement for neutral or improved socio-economic outcomes.

"“Together with the Murray Darling Basin Authority evaluation, this will provide ministers with a comprehensive set of information on the cumulative socio-economic impacts of the basin plan, including the recovery of the 450GL through efficiency measures," Mr Joyce said.
