Entyce Food Ingredients has recalled a relatively small batch of its Creative Gourmet Mixed Berries 300g sold in Australia through independent supermarkets.
The recalled product has a batch code PP150118, BBD 15.01.2021.
The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services notified Entyce Food Ingredients that one unopened pack within this batch received a positive test for traces of the hepatitis A virus.
This testing regime was undertaken after the department was alerted to a small number of reported cases of Australians contracting the hepatitis A virus.
The company said its primary focus was on providing the highest quality products while ensuring the health and safety of customers.
Since acquiring the Creative Gourmet brand in December 2015, Entyce has been phasing out sourcing any berries from China for the Creative Gourmet brand, recognising a level of concern that exists in the minds of the community.
Currently more than 95 per cent of the fruit used in the Creative Gourmet brand is sourced from Canada, Chile, Brazil and Vietnam.
The recalled batch of Creative Gourmet Mixed Berries 300g was packed in Australia with the ingredients sourced from two nations, China and Canada.
