Huacaya and Suri alpacas will be on show next month in Melbourne.

The Melbourne Showgrounds will be the place to be next month if you love alpacas or poultry.

That’s because the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show and Royal Melbourne Poultry Show’s will be held across the weekend of July 8 and 9.

The two breeds of alpaca — the Huacaya, with wool similar to a Merino, and the Suri, which is covered in ‘dreadlocked’ wool — will both compete at the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show in the Boulevard Pavilion.

The Royal Melbourne Poultry Show will see a host of bird breeds, including: Pekin, Silkies, Modern Game and Indian Runners take over Agricultural Hall.

Entry for both the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show and Royal Melbourne Poultry Show is free to the public and free parking is available on-site via Gate 5 on Langs Rd.

Gates are open on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 from 10am.
