Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) will release recycled water from the Rushworth-Stanhope Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) into the Timmering Depression over the coming weeks.

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) will release recycled water from the Rushworth-Stanhope Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) into the Timmering Depression over the coming weeks.

Water from the Timmering Depression leads to the Goulburn-Murray Water Timmering Main Drain to the west of Stanhope.

GVW Wastewater and Recycling Coordinator Stuart Harris said the decision was made to release the recycled water due to combined wet weather events in spring, summer and autumn increasing flows into the facility.

"Design capacity has been exceeded so GVW will commence the release of recycled water into the Timmering Depression in mid-July.”

The recycled water being released has been fully treated and meets Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Class C standards.
