Registrations for the 2017 Australian Fodder Industry Association’s National Fodder Conference will close soon, with the theme ‘Feeding Innovation, Growing Success’ taking centre stage.
The conference, which will take place at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast from August 7 to 9, will bring together growers, contractors, agronomists and researchers from across the industry.
AFIA chair Ann Collins said it was hoped the conference could generate more innovation within the industry.
‘‘It is focused on inspiring all of us to think about our respective businesses differently and to seek out those opportunities to do what we do with a renewed focus on innovation; challenging ourselves and one another to grow not just our own success but that of the entire national fodder industry,’’ she said.
Dr Jonathon Reich from United States company Alforex Seeds will deliver the key note address on Tuesday, August 8, drawing on more than 30 years of knowledge in the global seed industry, during which he has worked as a plant breeder, research director and corporate officer overseeing research and development.
The program will bring together a number of speakers throughout the three-day event, including former Nationals member for the federal division of Riverina and current Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation chair Kay Hull, and CSIRO senior principal research scientist Dr Andy Sheppard.
Dr Sheppard has led research into plant biosecurity, invasive species management and terrestrial biodiversity management for more than a decade and is currently the research director in the CSIRO Biosecurity Flagship for the Managing Invasive Species Impacts Program.
Conference registrations close on Wednesday, July 26.
