  • Groundwater plan for Katunga area

Groundwater customers in the Katunga Water Supply Protection Area can use up to 70 per cent of their licence entitlement after annual groundwater allocations were set for 2017-18.

Groundwater customers in the Katunga Water Supply Protection Area can use up to 70 per cent of their licence entitlement after annual groundwater allocations were set for 2017-18.

This means groundwater licence holders may use their maximum entitlement under the area’s groundwater management plan.

Goulburn-Murray Water made the announcement of groundwater allocations on July 14 in accordance with the plan, which has been amended through a draft by the Katunga Consultative Committee on behalf of Victorian Water Minister Lisa Neville.

Some of the proposed changes include changes to the way allocations are determined and allowing customers to receive an allocation of 100 per cent in some years, dependent on groundwater levels.

If Ms Neville approves these amendments during 2017-18, the allocation will be reassessed and a revised allocation may be announced.
