Chairperson and Campaspe Shire Councillor Leigh Wilson said the group’s aim was to lessen the impact of the closure on the local community.

The Rochester community is responding to the decision by Murray Goulburn to close the town’s manufacturing plant.

A town local advisory group has been established to lead the community, called Rochester Open for Business, with representatives from local government, health, local schools, business and the community.

Chairperson and Campaspe Shire Councillor Leigh Wilson said the group’s aim was to lessen the impact of the closure on the local community.

‘‘We want Murray Goulburn to be proactive in their future plans for the Rochester site to ensure it is not mothballed, as well as providing support to redundant staff,’’ he said.
