The 2017 Murray Dairy Business Forum celebrates its 21st year of operations in the region, with the theme ‘Coming of Age’.
The event will be held in Shepparton on Thursday, October 19, with an Industry Breakfast and Day Forum at the McIntosh Centre at the Shepparton Showgrounds, followed by an industry dinner at the Parklake Quality Inn.
The forum recognises the change and maturing of business and operation needs of dairy farmers, through the two decades of challenges in changing climate, water availability and fluctuating commodity prices.
Much of the program will focus on people development, as Murray Dairy sees the development of farm careers with a new professionalism to be proud of.
Not just for the on-farm enterprises, but also from the strongly allied service sector specialists, who work together for on-farm business success in the modern era.
Facilitator Mandy Johnson will guide the discussions. She is recognised for her best-selling books on the topic and a resolve for creating an environment for people to be in a remarkable workplace.
Tongala dairy farmer Andrew Tyler is looking forward to the forum, as he has heard Ms Johnson speak before.
‘‘Mandy is an exceptional communicator on employing people and management structures,’’ Mr Tyler said.
‘‘Any business is only as good as its employees, regardless of scale, and Mandy has some great messages on employing people.’’
Bamawm dairy farmer Ann Gardiner said, ‘‘not only is it about managing people in the business, but it is also about managing ourselves, and so I am really looking forward to hear her presentation’’.
