Red cow enthusiasts from northern Victoria and southern Riverina featured among the winners of the 2017 Victorian Red Cow On-Farm Challenge.
Organised by the Victorian Branch of the Illawarra Cattle Society of Australia, the Hayes family of Llandovery stud at Girgarre and the Warburton family of Glen Meadow stud at Deniliquin dominated the placegetters.
The 2017 competition saw a return to near record numbers with 220 entries, including six new exhibitors.
The Hayes family won the two-year-old in-milk class with Llandovery IK Stella 1515 sired by Schrago Remedy Ikar.
The family also took out the mature cow class and overall champion with Llandovery Ja-Bobs Stella 822.
Barry and Rosie Warburton won the commercial cow class with Glen Meadow Peachy 350 by GM Jeremy, and were also awarded reserve overall champion with Warrawee Park Gladys 10.
Jamie and Ashleigh Noonan, from Yarroweyah, won the three-year-old in-milk class with Next Generation PP Blush sired by Prides Prophet.
Prussian Pride H-Tulip Millie, sired by HTulip and owned by Lachlan Alwer from Invergordon, in partnership with Jason Smith from Horfield, placed first in the four-year-old in-milk class.
The Tuhan family, from Tatura, won the five-year-old in-milk class with Riversleigh Vprince Tulip 12 sired by VPRINCE.
