    Almost 16000 tonnes of red meat was exported to more than 57 markets last year, with beef exports racing past the 11million kilogram mark, a year-end review has revealed.

Almost 16000 tonnes of red meat was exported to more than 57 markets last year, with beef exports racing past the 11million kilogram mark, a year-end review has revealed.

The statistics released by the Department of Agriculture show that Asia, Japan, Korea and the United States continue to be among the biggest buyers of Australian red meat.

Almost 2000 tonnes of both mutton and lamb was exported in the past calendar year with Asia and the Middle East key destinations for the produce.

Goat exports outperformed pork exports, with almost 260 tonnes of goat exported worldwide, with more than half travelling to the east coast of the US.
