Great lead-up to stud's first sale

Progeny of Welcome Swallow Yellowstone Z2 and Welcome Swallow Theo Y56 will be on display at Beef Week.
Country News

W elcome Swallow Angus will take a further step along its developmental journey when it will stage its first on-property bull sale later this year.

Co-principal Suzy Martin said the stud had set down September 19 as the date for interested people to put in their diaries.

"Jim and I have chosen to schedule the sale in spring as we feel the needs of spring-calving herds are not as well serviced as autumn-calving herds at present," Ms Martin said.

Welcome Swallow will still join Blackmore Angus when that stud puts on its own on-property sale on April 11.

Welcome Swallow will have 40 18-month to two-year-old bulls for sale in September.

"The sale bulls will be on display for visitors to inspect during Beef Week, 2007," Ms Martin said.

Welcome Swallow bulls are quality assured and guaranteed, and have been structurally assessed by Jim Green, a Beef Class accredited assessor.

"All bulls are service ability tested prior to sale, as well," Ms Martin said.

"We source genetics for our herd that will maximise opportunities for balanced genetic improvements for clients, with particular emphasis on calving ease, growth and carcase quality.

"Our aim is to assist producers to increase their numbers of live, weaned calves and also increase their kilograms of beef produced per hectare."

During Beef Week, Welcome Swallow will have bulls on display sired by KMK Alliance I87, Vermilion Yellowstone, B/R Destination 928 and SAF Bando 5175.

Also on display will be a crosssection of cows and calves and young heifers.

Welcome Swallow is between Tatong and Swanpool, 20 km south-east of Benalla and will open on January 31.
