Cedenco jobs safe

Country News

Cedenco Australia says it is business as normal despite the Echuca tomato processor being placed into receivership recently.

KordaMentha has been appointed receiver and manager of the company due to ownership reasons.

Employees have been assured their jobs are safe, while receiver Craig Sheppard said there had been some interest from potential purchasers.

"We've already received numerous unsolicited offers for the business, but we will not be going to market or launching a formal sale campaign until next year," Mr Sheppard said.

The factory at Echuca is the largest tomato processor in Australia and has the capacity to process 2000 tonne of tomatoes each day.

The Echuca factory employs 35 permanent staff and up to 200 staff during the peak tomato growing period.
