Broken gets first one per cent

Country News

The Goulburn System irrigation allocations have increased by one per cent to 56 per cent, Goulburn-Murray Water announced on Monday.

Broken System irrigators will get the first allocation for the season with a one per cent figure announced.

Allocations in all other systems remain unchanged.

The Murray System allocation is unchanged at 63 per cent and the Bullarook System stays at 11 per cent.

The Campaspe and Loddon seasonal allocations remain at zero.

G-MW resource manager Graeme Hannan said continuing tributary flows in the Goulburn River catchment downstream of Lake Eildon produced a small allocation increase in the Goulburn System.

"The first Broken System allocation this season has been announced now that there is sufficient water to meet the river losses and to deliver the remaining carryover," Mr Hannan said.
