The region received its biggest dump of rain for the year last Friday, with Tocumwal recording 50.4 mm and Shepparton and Benalla not too far behind.
The rain appeared to be patchy, with only 11.8 mm falling in Kerang, 15 mm in Echuca and 16 mm at Mangalore.
There were also reports of 75 mm falling in the Katamatite area, while word has been getting around that almost 100 mm fell in Barooga on the day.
The single day's rain almost doubled the monthly average for some towns for February - which is usually the dryest month for the year.
Shepparton has recorded 48.4 mm for the month so far, which has already smashed the monthly rainfall average of 27.7 mm.
However, Kerang is yet to reach its long-term average of 23.5 mm for February, recording only 15 mm for the month so far.
Fruit Growers Victoria chairman Andrew Plunkett said the rain caused some minor "dropoffs", but was mostly positive for the fruit industry.
"The peaches were okay, but the Gala apples have dropped a few," Mr Plunkett said.
"On the plus side, cooler temperatures and moisture always make the red apples even redder, so we're seeing some good colour now."
Mr Plunkett said the rain was also good for varieties yet to be picked.
"It's beneficial for the pears because it will increase their size," he said.
"Rainwater is always better than irrigation water so the rain has mostly been a good thing."
