Kyabram Pony Club to celebrate 60 years

By Rodney Woods

The Kyabram Pony Club will hold it's 60th anniversary celebrations on Saturday (August 4).

Held at the Kyabram Showgrounds, the celebrations will include current members competing in a rally.

The club was co-founded by Dorothy Miles (Life Member) and Con Powells, with the first rally held on Saturday, August 23, 1958.

In August 1959 the club registered its colours as a pig skin coloured jumper with green bands, green tie and brown cap.

The Dijon gold coloured wool proved difficult to obtain in the 1970’s.

Despite the efforts to purchase every ball of wool in that shade it eventually became necessary to change the club’s colours in the mid 1980’s to the navy blue that it is today.

The 60th anniversary celebrations will be held on Saturday, August 4 between 10am and 3pm at the Kyabram Showgrounds.
