Food producers to march on Melbourne for key water meeting

By Alana Christensen

The Speak Up Campaign will march on Melbourne on Friday, calling on Murray-Darling Basin ministers to recognise the region's "desperate" situation.

Representatives from the Murrumbidgee, Murray and Goulburn Valleys will attend the march, coinciding with a Ministerial Council meeting where basin ministers will decide on the criteria which will determine whether more water will be recovered from rural communities.

The rural leaders will meet at 9.30am at Southern Cross Station and make their way along Collins St. to the Park Hyatt.

Speak Up is asking those attending to wear green for the day.
