Low water allocations expected next season

The irrigation season may only just be drawing to a close, but already attention is shifting to next season's allocations.

Northern Victorian resource manager Mark Bailey said 2019/20 seasonal determinations against high‑reliability water shares (HRWS) will depend on flows received into the major storages.

"Without increased storage volumes, the opening seasonal determinations announced on July 1, 2019, are likely to be quite low," Dr Bailey said.

Across the border, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) has already predicted NSW Murray could face another year of zero general security allocation.

The NSW Department of Industry today released the below forecasts for the 2019/20 season, which are unlikely to provide solace to southern Riverina growers.
