A new toilet block is being built for the town of Goorambat as a result of community efforts.
Goorambat and District Community Group president Greg Gall said a donated toilet block was currently undergoing alterations to include a unisex disabled toilet.
``There's no other disabled toilet in town. This will be an asset,” he said.
The new project is being built to meet demand as an influx of tourists travel through town to see the famous Goorambat silo art.
The toilet block was donated by Schneider Electric in Benalla, and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning will help pay for a new septic system.
"It will be a huge benefit with the amount of tourism we have,” Mr Gall said.
“We've got a lot of people coming through, around 60,000 a year.”
The project is expected to be completed in two months' time.
Mr Gall said it had been a huge effort from the community.
“The community group are trying to keep the town alive for the next generation,” he said.
The townspeople have many plans envisaged for the future, but funding is an issue.
Mr Gall hopes to receive further help from Benalla Rural City Council and will be applying for grants to improve the community's hall.
