Chicken shed destroyed by fire in Euroa

By Ashlea Witoslawski

Almost 20,000 chickens have died after a Euroa poultry farm shed burst into flames early this morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Drysdale Rd at about 5.45am to find the shed fully engulfed in flames.

CFA Units from Shepparton, Euroa, Miepoll, Longwood, Branjee and Molka attended the scene and the blaze was under control by 6.15am.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire or the exact number of chickens killed.

Smoke may continue to linger in the area, due to the smouldering remains.

Investigations will continue over the next couple of days.
