Maize Silage Day is open to anyone interested in growing maize silage or optimising their current maize operations.
The free Murray Dairy event will run from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and RSVP is essential before late Thursday to confirm crowd sizes.
Four speakers will be braving the microphone at this event, starting with local maize grower Ian Hamono who produces high-yielding maize crops.
Mr Hamono will discuss tricks of the trade and share his insight as a farmer.
After him is Scott Palmer from SLTEC Fertilisers who’ll talk about optimising nutrients on a maize crop and David Lewis from Lellemand Animal Nutrition who’ll discuss producing high quality silage that sells itself.
Netafim’s Andrew Pollard will finish the talk-fest off by discussing and answering all questions regarding portable drip irrigation options.
Maize Association of Australia’s Liz Mann said the day was all about learning how to grow high yielding maize.
“It’s a great opportunity for local farmers to come down and learn from the best in the country,” Ms Mann said.
This event is one of the first farmer seminars back after the Victorian COVID-19 lockdowns.
