The 50 per cent discount is part of Campaspe Shire Council’s Rural Tree Scheme.
Launched every year on July 1, the tree scheme remains active until all the funds allocated are used up.
Campaspe Shire infrastructure general manager Jason Deller said locals looking to improve their property’s landscape, create habitat for wildlife and introduce windbreaks should all take advantage of the discount.
“The scheme has approximately 40 indigenous plant species that are well suited to the Campaspe climate and soil types,” Dr Deller said.
“The plants available range from groundcovers that grow to less than a metre, to trees that will grow more than 30 metres.”
Council and local Landcare groups can provide advice on species selection and site preparation.
To be eligible you must be a rural zoned ratepayer.
Properties under five hectares can access 50 discounted seedlings while larger properties can access 160.
Once you order the seedlings, council works with Rochester Nursery and McKindlay’s Riverine Nursery to propagate the required plants.
Plants will be available to pick up in autumn or spring 2022.
Order forms, including a full list of available species, are available on council’s website, from the customer service centre or mailed out on request.
