Sheep, beef and dairy producers have been invited to a webinar/phone seminar with industry experts Colin Peace and Brett Davidson to discuss the current canola fodder situation and opportunities to feed canola hay and silage to livestock.
Registration is free.
A large proportion of Victoria’s canola crops have failed and have been cut for fodder.
This has created an opportunity for livestock producers to access another source of feed for their stock during this extended dry period.
Topics will include an overview of the current canola crop situation including what has been cut; quality of product; availability and indicative prices; feeding canola silage and hay; nutritional quality and palatability; new-season feed test ranges; animal health; and vendor declarations.
Mr Peace of Jumbuk Consulting delivers services and advice across the grain and fodder industries and Mr Davidson is Agriculture Victoria’s northern regional dairy manager.
Mr Davidson has previously worked for NSW DPI as an extension officer specialising in feed base and has personal experience feeding cows through difficult seasons since 1992. He will discuss feeding canola fodder to livestock.
The webinar/phone seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 24 from 1pm to 2pm.
