Studs rise to the challenge

By Country News

The inaugural Victorian Limousin Society On-Farm Challenge has been run and won, with 22 studs and 150 cattle from all over Victoria taking part.

The northern Limousin group had animals entered in several classes, with Limstow Limousins in Warrenbayne taking out Champion Senior Bull.

Mistletoe Limousins, of Greta, obtained second place in the 12- to 16-month-old heifer section, in a class of 11 animals.

This stud also won second place in the 16- to 20-month-old heifer class and had highly commended bulls in the 12- to 16-month and 16- to 20-month classes.

Mistletoe stud principal Denis O’Connor was pleased with the results.

Mr O’Connor said the judge, Peter Collins, was impressed with the structural soundness, conformation and softness of the animals, which showed sound breeding principles and a passion for the breed.
