BASIN HEARINGS BEGIN:

South Australia’s Royal Commission has started its hearings into the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, calling former Murray-Darling Basin Authority employees to answer questions on Monday. A number of authority employees were recently issued with summonses to appear before the commission, with the authority challenging these in the High Court.

MORE SILO PAINTING:

Melbourne artist Jimmy DVate has continued work on Rochester’s GrainCorp silos, with a kingfisher forming on the town’s metal silo. Rochester is the fourth northern Victorian town to feature silo art, with work expected to be completed by early July.

FACTORY GROWING:

Fonterra’s Stanhope cheese plant is in the midst of a $125million expansion that will almost double the site’s production. Construction is expected to be completed by February.

TESLA BATTERIES ARRIVE:

One of the two models of Tesla batteries that will be used to store power from Gannawarra Solar Farm, west of Kerang, has started to arrive. Overall, there will be 250 1.5 model batteries and 150 of the 2.0 model. Completion of the storage system is set for the end of the year.

CUP IS COMING:

The Melbourne Cup Tour is coming to two northern Victorian towns in August. The famous trophy will visit Shepparton and Nagambie on August 3 and August 4 respectively. The cup will also travel to the United Kingdom and Ireland for the first time.
