MILK PRICE INDEX LAUNCHED:

The Federal Government has introduced its long awaited milk price index, which is set to provide clearer decision making for farmers interpreting commodity market price signals. Government will work with industry to educate farmers on how best to use the index.

PHILLIP GLYDE VISIT:

A new report on how the Murray-Darling Basin Plan is impacting the dairy industry is expected to be released within the next two to three weeks.

The report found significant impacts on the industry, MDBA chief executive Phil Glyde disclosed last week.

DAIRY QUALITY AWARDS:

More than 50 farmers from the Murray Dairy region have been recognised among the nation’s best milk producers in the 2018 Dairy Australia Milk Quality Awards. Of the local success stories, the Young family, from Wyuna, was among the best performers.

LAMBASSADOR COMING TO SHEPPARTON:

Former AFL footballer and Lambassador Sam Kekovich has turned his campaign expertise to the dairy industry and will come to Shepparton on July 24. Mr Kekovich will visit the Goulburn Valley to create awareness around the current situation of dairy farmers.

APVMA STAFF TO STAY IN CANBERRA:

Despite the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority opening a second office in Armidale to accommodate staff moves, some will remain in the nation’s capital. The Armidale operations will be supported by 30 to 40 specialist scientists and decision makers working from a site in Canberra.
