Victoria gets welcome rain

By Country News

Northern Victoria saw downpours in the past week, while farmers north of the border continued to suffer through dry conditions.

Most of the rain in northern Victoria that fell from August 8 to August 13 was recorded on August 8, with 15.8mm of Benalla’s 22.9mm falling on that day.

In Shepparton, 15mm was recorded, with 10.6mm of that falling on August 8.

Mangalore recorded 28.4mm for the period, and again August 8 had the highest daily tally with 17mm recorded.

Deniliquin, however, recorded just 2.4mm across the same period.

■In other news, northern Victoria resource manager Mark Bailey said there had been no change to the risk of spill in the Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe systems since the July update.
