NEW CHAIR FOR G-MW:

The Victorian Government has announced a new chair for Goulburn-Murray Water. Diane James, who is the current chair of Southern Rural Water, started in the role on September 1.

RIV PLAINS SPRAY WORKSHOPS:

Riverine Plains is hosting two spray application workshops on September 13 and 14 in Dookie and Rutherglen, respectively. The half-day workshops will be conducted by Bill Gordon, from Bill Gordon Consulting, and are designed to assist farmers get the most from their spray equipment. MILK FACTORY EXPANDING:

Freedom Foods is continuing to expand its Shepparton factory which has become a major Australian UHT export facility. The company will spend millions of dollars this financial year to increase its throughput to 500million litres annually. Freedom Foods announced its annual results last week, declaring a $19million net profit.

GOULBURN VALLEY DELIVERS HAY TO NSW FARMERS:

Seventeen trucks from the Goulburn Valley were loaded with hay last week. About 4000 hay bales were transported at the weekend to northern NSW farmers, who are struggling because of the drought.

NEW MURRAY DAIRY BOARD MEMBERS:

Murray Dairy has announced two new board members, replacing outgoing duo Rick Cross and Greg Ault. Lachlan Marshall, from Blighty, and Tom Acocks, from Rochester, will take up three-year terms as farmer representatives alongside existing directors Karen Moroney, Tony McCarthy and Andrew Tyler.
