Katty plans a big day

By Country News

The town of Katamatite is gearing up for a big weekend, expecting more than 1000 people at its annual Big Day Out in a Little Town event.

Crowds will be able to see 2017 Australian Chainsaw Carving Champion Rob Bast at work, carving a 1.8m-tall sculpture that will call the town home on completion.

Melbourne-based mural artist Baden Johnson will also create a landscape mural to be displayed in the town alongside 24 murals created by local primary schools as part of the School Mural Art Program.

With 70 market stalls, yabby races, whip cracking, drone demonstrations, dog jumping and even a visit from Mickey Mouse and a treasure hunt, there’s plenty for all ages.

All proceeds from the day will go towards supporting drought relief.

The event will be held at Katamatite Football Ground from 9am to 4pm on Sunday, September 23.
