STANHOPE PROPOSAL FOR SOLAR:

Stanhope could be the next town on the solar farm train, with Australian company GloBird Energy proposing a 45ha farm across two lots either side of Downing Rd, Stanhope. In addition to the solar farm, GloBird is also hoping to construct a 100MW storage battery, with a total project cost of $150million.

BIG SUPERMARKETS GIVE LEVY GREEN LIGHT:

Woolworths and Coles have announced a 10¢ per litre milk levy, with all proceeds going to assist drought-affected farmers.

Woolworths will distribute the funds through a drought relief oversight committee, while Coles will donate the additional funds to the National Farmers’ Federation’s Drought Relief Fund.

STRAWBERRY SCANDAL CONTINUES:

The fallout from the strawberry contamination continues with needles found in strawberries in all six states. Thousands of strawberries have been dumped by farmers and New Zealand has pulled Australian-grown fruit from its shelves.
