Plenty visit Elmore Field Days

By Country News

Organisers of the Elmore Field Days have celebrated another successful year, with strong crowds recorded throughout the three-day event.

Now in its 55th year, public relations officer John Giffin said crowds were consistently strong last week, with school holidays bringing plenty of families through the gates.

‘‘Considering it’s been a dry season, we’re very impressed,’’ Mr Giffin said.

‘‘You only had to look around to see how many kids and parents came along.’’

With the disappointing season, Mr Giffin said most stall holders hadn’t registered many sales, but were receiving plenty of inquiries as people looked toward the future.

There were plenty of crowd favourites, with the newest addition to the field days — camel rides — receiving plenty of attention.

‘‘They have been flat out and the reptile awareness demonstrations have been absolutely packed,’’ Mr Giffin said.

‘‘The heritage draught horses have also been a real drawcard; watching them make hay was just amazing.’’

With the event wrapped up for another year, Mr Giffin said the attention would quickly shift to next year.
