MG SETTLES WITH ACCC:
Murray Goulburn Co-operative has agreed to an in-principle agreement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in relation to allegations the company contravened consumer law in its handling of the 2016 milk price crisis.
MEETING DRAWS CROWD:
Farmers and members of the Cohuna community were given the chance to discuss federal water policy when State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh and Federal Nationals deputy leader Bridget McKenzie spent an afternoon in Cohuna last week. The majority of the irrigators in the room represented the dairy industry, and, in a show of hands, two-thirds indicated they were seriously considering leaving the industry within the next five years.
AWI CHAIR DEPARTS:
Australian Wool Innovation chair Wal Merriman has stepped down from the role. He will be replaced by Colette Garnsey.
WATER MEETING IN ROCHESTER:
Murray-Darling Basin communities in Victoria and NSW will have the chance to have their say on the best ways to invest in water efficiency projects through four new public meetings scheduled for Mildura on November 14, Swan Hill and Balranald, NSW, on November 15 and Rochester on November 16. The Rochester meeting will be held at noon at Rochester Golf Club.
WATER DOMINATES VFF FORUM:
A VFF candidates forum held in Shepparton last week was dominated by water questions and concerns. This was despite the topic not being a part of the VFF’s top five election asks.
