Bulls and broncs take on cowboys

By Country News

The Alexandra Pro Rodeo will return in 2019, with plenty of side attractions to keep the whole family entertained.

The rodeo will feature several open and secondary events, including bulls, bareback, timed events, barrel racing and saddle bronc, with the stock provided by McPhee Rodeo Promotions.

Anyone can enter the local pony and local steer rides, for a chance at the $50 prize money.

With Yarrawonga (December 28) and Finley (January 4) also holding rodeos around the same time, the nation’s top cowboys will stay for the January 12 event at Alexandra.

The rodeo will cater for everyone with two bars, food stalls and coffee carts, while other stalls will sell rodeo gear across the night.

Other attractions include live music and amusements, including the bucking bull, jumping castles and carnival rides.

There will also be live music in Grant St, Alexandra before the gates open at 4pm. The rodeo events will start at 6pm.

The rodeo will be held on Saturday, January 12 at the Dame Pattie Menzies Centre, 2456 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Alexandra.

Tickets cost: adults, $25; children aged 13 to 17, $10; and free entry for children aged 12 and under.

These can be purchased online at: www.alexandrarodeo.com.au or at Embling Rural (Alexandra Landmark) or at the gate on the day.

Tickets bought online or at Embling Rural will go into the draw for a $500 Caltex fuel voucher.
