Former SPC managing director leaves company

By Country News

Former SPC managing director Reg Weine left the company on the eve of new owners taking over the business.

In June when the sale of SPC was announced, the new owners anticipated Mr Weine, who held the position for four years, was staying with the company, but he resigned just prior to the new company taking over.

The former chief financial officer has also resigned.

SPC executive Rob Giles has been appointed acting chief executive officer, while the new owners work through staffing appointments.

The new owners, Shepparton Partners Collective, purchased SPC from Coca-Cola Amatil in June.

Part-owner Hussein Rifai wished the departing executives all the best and said he was impressed with the way the staff were handling the changes and recognised a high level of professional skill.

The changes included replacement of an IT system and a review of procurement strategies.

Mr Rifai said he was looking forward to meeting more grower suppliers in the spring.

He expects to travel overseas this month to talk to contacts in other countries about opportunities for SPC.
