Victorian beef and dairy producers will receive funding towards bushfire relief efforts with a donation of $250 000 from Tongala meat processor HW Greenham & Sons.
All proceeds will go directly to the VFF Disaster Relief Fund and dispersed to organisations such as Blaze Aid, to rebuild fences and other structures damaged by fire.
Managing director Peter Greenham Jr said the response from Australian and international donors had been incredible.
“From suppliers in other parts of Australia to beef customers from the United States and Korea, we have been inundated with inquiries as to how people can assist affected farmers,” he said.“The fire season isn’t over yet and producers will need our support over the coming weeks, months and years as they rebuild their farms and communities.”
The additional fundraising initiative was led by both producers and customers looking to assist affected farmers.
The recovery campaign has a target of $500 000, with Greenham donating $50 000 to the fundraising effort, and a further $200 000 direct to the VFF Disaster Relief Fund.
