The Elmore Field Days will take centre stage once again in October after the organising committee made the decision to cancel the event last year due to COVID-19.
And committee president Scott Nichol couldn't be more excited for the three-day event to go ahead.
“We were very excited to make the announcement,” he said.
“It is such an important and valued event each year to not only the vendors and customers but also the local community.
“I know that many people have already put it in their diaries and are excited to attend.”
Mr Nichol said having to cancel last year was difficult for everyone.
“We are lucky here in regional Victoria that we were sheltered from the virus and had limited cases,” he said.
“We had to cancel many events throughout the year including our main event, the Elmore Field Days, but the safety of the community far outweighed any loss to the organisation.”
But that didn't stop the committee members from putting plans in place hoping they could get the event up and running again.
“From the moment 2020 was cancelled we started hoping and planning for Elmore Field Days 2021,” Mr Nichol said.
“Since the beginnings in 1964, the Elmore Field days has only once been cancelled, in 1974 due to flood halfway through the event, so last year will go down in history as the only year the event has not gone ahead.”
While COVID-19 could still put a dampener on the event depending on lockdowns, he said their fingers were crossed.
“With the release of the vaccination, and reduction of restrictions in Victoria recently, we are hopeful for a successful and enjoyable field days this year.
“People can expect a great show of agricultural products, machinery and activities for the whole family as they do every year, and we hope to continue that for many more years to come.”
This year's Elmore Field Days will be held from October 5 to 7.
