Volvo charters boat to ship trucks
The Australian market has never been hungrier for heavy-duty trucks and Volvo is rising to meet demand by chartering its own roll-on, roll-off vessel.
Volvo Truck Australia confirmed it was working with head office in Sweden to lease a ship and bring CBUs (completely build-up units) into Australia.
Volvo does build trucks in Brisbane but the record market has maxed out the factory’s production.
The vessel will be stocked with 100 per cent Volvo trucks, ready to drive-on in Sweden and Saudi Arabia and offload in Australia.
Pets count in Victorian census
The Victorian Government has announced $613,000 of funding for a pet census, which it says will gather crucial information on pet ownership and attitudes of pet owners.
The Victorian Pet Census will collect data across the state on a range of areas relevant to pet ownership and pet welfare, including:
the demographics of Victoria’s pet owners and their pets;
general matters relevant to pet health (for example, diet and exercise);
the costs and services associated with purchasing and caring for pets; and
the social and wellbeing impacts of pet ownership.
It is anticipated the Victorian Pet Census will be conducted next year using an online survey.
