A fresh coat of paint is currently going on the Goorambat silos, with Melbourne artist Jimmy DVate starting a new piece of art on the town’s metal silos.

One year after completing the original artwork on the silos, DVate said the new artwork would have a historical theme but would still focus on animals, making it a ‘‘perfect fit’’ for him.
‘‘We’ve got the design pretty much locked in. There’s a lot of feedback going back and forward to the community about what image they want to have on there, which is understandable,’’ he said.
‘‘I guess a lot of people in these areas have grown up with horses, so it will hopefully resonate with local people and visitors ... It’s of a couple of horses that were locally based, they’re up north now but they were born here, so it’s really nice.
‘‘This silo will be very close to being finished for the Wall to Wall weekend; we’re aiming that I’ll still be around so people can still come and have a look, but I think it will be pretty much done ... fingers crossed.’’
The town will celebrate the start of the Wall to Wall Festival on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, with an arts and crafts fair and a vintage tractor display, barbecue and Devonshire tea, and the Goorambat Hall open from 10am to 4pm.
The Goorambat Uniting Church will also be open from 9am to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday to allow visitors to see the spectacular artwork by artist Adnate on the church’s walls.
Goorambat will host a Lights Up for Tea event from 6.30pm to 9pm on Saturday, April 6, with the silo’s barking owl Milli lit up for the occasion.
