The new drive to connect with locals streams from a new webinar series.
MDBA chief executive Phillip Glyde said the MDBA Webinar Series would “deep dive” into a range of water-related topics of interest to basin communities.
“Water management is complex and understandably communities and water users want to know more about river management and the issues that impact them,” Mr Glyde said.
“Our webinar series will run regularly throughout the year and previous episodes will be available to watch online afterwards.”
The first webinar on Tuesday, March 9 will discuss capacity issues and changes in water use for the Murray River over the past 25 years — particularly how delivery risks have been influenced between the Barmah Choke and South Australian border.
This includes changes associated with new horticulture developments in the Sunraysia, water for the environment and intervalley trading.
“This is your opportunity to get an inside view of how the river is run and the complex issues we’re managing, and put your questions to our river operations team,” Mr Glyde said.
According to the MBDA it will also "bust a few myths" relating to growth in water demand, increased summer demands and how environmental water is being used.
The Barmah Choke sand slug and the independent research that identified the phenomena will also be discussed.
The webinar will be led by the MBDA’s head of river management Andrew Reynolds, with support from Joe Davis and Ben Dyer.
