Stars of the future on show

By Country News

Calves and heifers were on show at the 2019 Cattle Clubs Calf Show at Numurkah last week.

About 50 entries were recorded for the event, which saw young people parading their young cattle in the arena for judging.

In some cases, the handlers were only a few years older than their cattle, and certainly all the cattle were bigger and heavier than their leaders.

Judge Jason Hayes awarded the Supreme Champion Holstein and Jersey ribbons to Erin Ferguson of Tatura.

The show has been run by Jersey Australia and Brown Swiss Australia in recent years but was broadened to include Holstein Australia this year.
