The annual Anointing of the Boneshakers event brings together motorcycle, tricycle and Can-Am Spyder enthusiasts to honour their fallen friends and receive God’s blessing.
Now in its third year at Echuca, the event welcomes northern Victoria’s entire motorcycle community to come together, including family members and supporters who don’t ride.
The free event will be held at Christ Church Anglican at 500 High St, Echuca on Sunday, April 12.
Reverend Phil Zamagias will lead the service alongside a church clergy member.
From 10am, attendees can socialise, admire the bikes, and enjoy morning tea together, with a coffee van providing refreshments for purchase.
The ceremony will begin at 11.15am with a talk by Rev’d Phil, followed by a parade of bikers rolling through the church grounds to receive their blessing.
“A few years back, local clubs approached the Minister to Tatura, keen to establish something closer to home,” Rev’d Phil said.
“They wanted to honour their fallen mates and keep it focused.”
The event originally started in Tatura and was established by the Northern Victoria Spider riders.
“They coined the term ‘anointing’, so ‘Anointing of the Boneshakers’ became our thing,” Rev’d Phil said.
“We shifted gears to Echuca in 2024.
“It’s vital for the riding community to come together and honour those they’ve lost.
“Sadly, they do lose people in their circle. These are their riding mates, and everyone’s aware of life’s fragility.”
The event will conclude with lunch at a local pub.
