During the past 12 months, CLRS has continued to create meaningful career pathways, develop internal talent and build the workforce capability needed to provide quality supports.
During the year, 10 staff members were successfully appointed to permanent or temporary internal leadership positions.
These appointments reflect a commitment to promoting from within and providing opportunities for employees to advance their careers.
From direct support professionals through to senior leadership roles, we are proud of our ability to ‘grow our own’ workforce by recognising potential, building capability and retaining valuable organisational knowledge.
Our focus on workforce development has also strengthened succession planning.
When chief executive Leah Taaffe stepped away from the organisation earlier this year, we were able to make seamless acting appointments at chief executive, director, services manager and team leader levels.
These transitions demonstrated the depth of leadership capability we have developed across the organisation and occurred with minimal disruption to service delivery.
The impact of investing in our people can be seen in the career journeys of employees across CLRS.
Their stories demonstrate how learning, development and leadership opportunities can unlock rewarding and diverse career pathways within CLRS.
With a Bachelor of Health Science and more than 10 years of industry experience, Annie Peat joined CLRS as a casual direct support professional, while also providing administrative support.
Recognised for her strong performance and commitment, she progressed into a team leader role before moving into services manager positions across Daily Living and Defined Programs.
Most recently, Annie stepped into the role of acting director of operations, reflecting her dedication to continuous learning and leadership.
Annie's journey is one of many examples that bring our commitment to career development to life.
Employee stories like Annie Peat's highlight the opportunities for growth and advancement within CLRS through learning and leadership development programs.

These stories demonstrate that progression is achievable, opportunities are available and growth is actively supported across our organisation.
Traineeships continue to play a vital role in strengthening our workforce capability.
These programs combine formal study with practical workplace experience, helping participants develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for successful careers in community services.
The program benefits both trainees and the organisation.
Participants gain valuable hands-on experience while earning an income, while CLRS develops a skilled workforce that understands our values, culture and service standards.
The long-term value of traineeships is reflected in the career progression of employees such as Carly Powers.
After completing a Certificate III in Individual Support traineeship while working as a direct support professional, Carly built her skills and experience across a range of support settings.
Traineeships play a crucial role in building a skilled workforce, providing practical experience and career progression opportunities for participants like Carly Powers.
