Echuca Moama Model Aero Club is preparing for its thrilling annual festival of flight weekend, Fun Fly on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.

A major highlight of the Fun Fly, sponsored by Dessert Aircraft Australia, will be a talented group of professional model aero pilots joining the club from Taiwan on Saturday

Fun Fly will be followed closely by the come-and-try day on Saturday, April 18, offering a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of model aviation.

The VMAA Flying Field on Watson Rd, Kanyapella, a secure and family-friendly venue with easy access, will once again provide the perfect runway for the model planes.

Echuca Moama Model Aero Club secretary and treasurer Fred West said pilots from across Victoria could look forward to jam-packed days of aircraft, camping and community.

“Pilots and spectators can see us fly many different types of model aeroplanes — aerobatic, jets and helicopters,” Fred said.

“All kinds of model aircraft are welcome.”

Fred said the event welcomed everyone, not just aircraft owners, making it a wonderful experience for pilots’ families and all spectators.

“It’s good to see people like me enjoy the sport and the camaraderie,” he said.

A fantastic range of delicious refreshments will be available at both events, with a well-stocked canteen offering hearty hot meals, tasty snacks, and freshly made barista coffee and tea on-site.

The come-and-try day welcomes anyone curious about model aircraft, featuring experienced instructors, beginner-friendly training aircraft and exciting demonstration flights to enjoy.

“This day is aimed at attracting new people that might be interested in model aviation to come and try with the aim of them becoming involved in our terrific sport,” Fred said.

The come-and-try day entry is free and includes a barbecue lunch.

For the annual festival of flight weekend, there is an entry fee for pilots while spectators enjoy free admission.

Pilots are encouraged to take advantage of the convenient on-site camping facilities for the fun fly weekend, ensuring they can fully immerse themselves in every moment of the action.
