After 16 years in the industry, including six serving Tatura, Cameron Scorey is closing Hussln Auto Detailing, marking the end of an era.
For Cam Scorey, being named Tatura’s Community Event of the Year for the Hussln Charity Car & Bike Show was both an honour and a full-circle moment — coming just as he prepares to close the business that helped bring the much-loved event to life.

Over five years, Cameron led the event, raising more than $17,000 for charities including Beyond Blue and Shepparton Foodshare, while drawing hundreds of visitors and more than 140 vehicles to Tatura.
“I don’t do it for the recognition — you do it because you want to help,” Cam said.
“A pat on the back is always nice, but it was a really good way to close that chapter.”
Cam said he was notified of his nomination in early December and later received a call confirming he had won, ensuring he could attend the Australia Day Awards ceremony.
“I was honestly a bit speechless when they rang,” he said.
“It was exciting, but also emotional — especially knowing I was announcing the closure of my business the very next day.”
What began as an open day after Cam moved into his workshop evolved into an annual charity event, later becoming a platform for mental health awareness following a spate of local suicides in early 2022.
Having had his own battles with mental health, the event and cause became something really close to his heart.
The show gained attention well beyond the region, with international automotive businesses donating prizes and promoting the event in workshops across the United States and Europe.
“To think banners from a little event in Tatura were hanging in workshops overseas — that was pretty special,” Cam said.
However, rising costs and increasing regulatory expenses made continuing the event unsustainable without a full committee.
“It needed more people behind it, and I knew I didn’t have the capacity to keep doing it on my own,” he said.
Alongside the event’s conclusion, Cameron has also announced the closure of Hussln Auto Detailing, ending a 16-year career, including six years operating in Tatura.
His final day will be the Thursday before Good Friday.
“I’ve been here six days a week for years,” he said.
“With family, the football club, the CFA — something had to give.”
Cam said the decision was driven by a desire to spend more time with his wife Kelly and daughter Amelia, and to take a break and see where the next journey takes him.
“I’ve travelled every state and territory in Australia detailing cars, worked in America and Japan, won awards locally and internationally — I’ve gotten three lifetimes out of this,” he said.
“My heart’s full.”
A farewell Cars and Coffee will be held on Good Friday, giving customers and supporters a chance to say goodbye.
From this point forward, all detailing services and enquiries will be handled through Southern Rod & Custom, providing clients with a seamless, full-service automotive solution.
