SPC fined for worker’s injury

SPC has been fined $25000 without conviction and forced to pay $3592 in costs after a workplace incident at the Shepparton factory in December 2017.

The charge relates to an incident on December 23, 2017, in which a woman’s finger was partially amputated after it was caught in the nip point of an operating conveyor belt.

She was attempting to remove a stuck piece of fruit during cleaning when the incident happened.

The case was heard in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on July 31.
