At 11am last Friday, Yarrawonga Mulwala paused to commemorate Remembrance Day with a service held at the Memorial Wall at ClubMulwala.

Sub-Branch Secretary David Kind introduced John Duncan to sing the Royal Hymn before the Last Post was played, a minute silence was observed, the Reveille played and the ODE to the fallen was read.
John Duncan sang the Royal Hymn and Australian and New Zealand national anthems.

Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub Branch President John Burn spoke of the importance of the day and the significance of the younger generations being involved in the commemorations.
“We gather today to commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by all Australian servicemen and women and our allies who gave their lives in all wars and war-like conflicts over more than 100 years,” Mr Burn said.
“As young members of our community you (Sacred Heart College students Chloe Burgess and Dominic McInnes) can stand proud as great ambassadors for the Yarrawonga Mulwala district.”
After the Reveille was played, Gary Guidotti was called upon to recite “In Flanders Field” followed by a response of “We shall keep the faith” by RSL Sub Branch Treasurer Lynne Dowsett.
Sacred Heart College students Chloe Burgess and Dominic McInnes gave the school Remembrance Day address.

To demonstrate the next generations’ respect, Sacred Heart College students Chloe Burgess and Dominic McInnes also gave their addresses before the contingency remembered those comrades who have passed away in the past 12 months with 16 names reads.
Central Bureau Intelligence Corp of Australia’s Stan Clark OAM was helped to lay a wreath.

More than seven Wreaths were laid officially by a number of local organisations, Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub BranchPresident John Burn, RSL Women’s Auxiliary’s Pauline Frauenfelder, Cobram/ Yarrawonga Legacy Group’s Ian Summers, Pat Andrews from Yarrawonga Legacy Widows’ Club, Stan Clark OAM representing Central Bureau Intelligence Corp of Australia, Glenys McCurdy representing Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy, a representative of Moira Shire and Yarrawonga Lions President Joan Tufvesson.
The service was completed with the singing of the national anthem of Australia and New Zealand whilst all those in attendance bowed their heads to those who fought for our nations.
There was a great contingent at the Remembrance Day service.
